After a successful Schools programme last year 2010/2011 season where we picked our Under 17 side from all over KZN from players omitted from their regions. All the players that were selected were from KZN Coastal and Inland. The matches included traditional matches against The President's XI @ Oval, PMB(50/50); KZN Inland U17 @ Eston(2 day); Durban Club Inv. XI@ Lahee Park Oval, together with two new fixtures against KZN Coastal U17 @Lahee Park Oval (50/50), and a T20 against Crickets Cricket Club XI @ Luther Field that included former International and Provincial Cricketers. The side was weaker than the previous 5 years, where approx. 90% achieved higher future honours at provincial and national level.
Our tradition of playing against schools once again proved to be a great success with KZN Cricket Union's CEO Jesse Chellan, and, Dolphin's Coach Graham Ford providing Kingsmead Mynahs with International and Provincial Cricketers , to fill our sides, together with club and Old Boys. A highlight was also a new fixture, our final game against KZN Development Schools XI, Captained by Dolphin Khaya Zondo , with the Development boys losing, but, performing admirably which is encouraging for KZN Cricket, and, the development programmes.
Our first Cricket match this season is as normal against Kearsney College at the school on 22nd September 2011, with a 10.00am start. Kingmead Mynahs XI will be made up of Kearsney Old Boys who have all played first class cricket including two current Dolphins Contracted Players, Kyle Abbott and Keegan Eccles (Kingmead Mynahs U17 2006). The side will be Captained by former school Captain Benji Hector.
Kearsney Old Boys, and, Kingsmead Mynahs Members are invited to attend to witness a great day of cricket together with a cocktails after the days play.
