Development Programme October 2005 - January 2010

After 35 Years Of Successfully Developing Cricket, Especially Under The Guidance Of The Legendary Ken Sutler Gore, The Mynahs Schools Programme Needed Upgrading. In The Past Due To Sponsorships And Fundraising, Teams Were Sent On Tours To Country District Areas, And, School Leavers With Talent Heading Overseas, The Last Being In 1987 With Current Proteas Coach Mickey Arthur A Member. Some Of The Best Coaches Were Employed With Many Such As Bob Woolmer, Stuart Turner, Phil Russell, Alan Jones, John Lever And Paul Parker To Name A But Few Being Brought Out From England, Together With Current Greats Of The Time, Like Barry Richards, Mike Procter, Henry Fotheringham, Pat Trimborn, Vince Van Der Bijl Etc. Contributing Towards Coaching Clinics For All Age Groups.

We Had A Most Dedicated Committee Which Included Former Internationals Such As Peter Pollock, David Pithey, Pat Trimborn, And, Two From That Era Are Still Serving Us Today In Dick Lambert And Glen Fletcher (You Only Have To Look At Our Honours Board In Our Longroom To Digest What Promonent People Were Part Our Establishment, Unfortunately I'll Fill This Page If I Mention Everyone Who Contributed, But, John Arthur And Forrest Hill With Approx. 40 Years Between Them Are Also Still Active).

I Was Approached Mid 2005 To Try To Resurrect To Programme With Extremely Limited Funds That Were Allocated Out Of Falling Cricket Membership Sales. I Immediately Approached, Mr. Mike Griffiths, South Africa's Most Astute, Experienced And Qualified Schools Coach, Selector And Analyst. He Had Recently Retired From Full Time Teaching At Kearsney College.

First And Fourth Term Matches, With Senior First Class And Club Players Participating, Continued To Be Played Against Major Cricketing Schools, And, Zones. In 2006/7 Shedders Academy Came On Board Assisting Us With Players.
