Kingmead Mynahs XI vs Kearsney College (1st team Cricket)
Date: 2011-09-22
On behalf of Kingsmead Mynahs, our players on the day, Neil Adcock, Chris Burger, Tony Clucas, John Arthur and myself, I would sincerely like to thank you, Neil Peacock, Andre` van Zyl, and, your Headmaster, Alwyn van den Aardweg for an extremely well run and enjoyable day of Cricket.
A highlight for our club is always our first match of the season against the school, and, as you correctly pointed out, having a former Captain of the school in Benji Hector, with his vast first class experience, passing on advice to the boys.
Benji and I were also very grateful to be presented with 90 year commemorative Kearsney ties.
Kingsmead Mynahs played Kearsney College at Kearsney on 22nd September. Due to the uncertain weather it was decided to play a 40 overs match with Kingsmead Mynahs batting first. Kingsmead Mynahs Guests of Honour were Former International Cricketers, Neil Adcock and Chris Burger, Former Hilton College, bursar, Tony Clucas who were joined by Head Master Alwyn van den Aardveg, and, Kearsney doyen, Dr. Graeme Shuker to lunch and a great day's cricket with John Arthur and Colin Chater.
The Mynahs side was Captained by former Kearsney Captain, and first class cricketer, Benji Hector. The side was made up of 5 Dolphin Academy Players (Cody Chetty, Keshav Maharaj, Gareth Roderick, Bradley Barends, Bruce Kruger) 3 Kearsney Old boys (Benji Hector, Andrew Perkins, Ricki Gouveia), 3 Pinetown Cricket Club (Kyle Buckthorpe, Tim Spence, A.J. Dyer). 5 played for Kingsmead Mynahs Under 17 in recent years Barends, Kruger, Buckthorpe, Spence and Dyer.
